Revival Prayer Pointers

21 through 30

Week 21: Let’s begin our revival prayer time this week by reflecting on the Lord’s Table.  Think about Jesus’ suffering, the sacrifice of His body and blood.  Can we find better motivation for pursuing revival and renewal.  Before we begin praying, let’s reflect on the great love shown in Jesus’ death for you and me.  Does He have His deserved place in our lives?

Week 22: A primary goal of revival/renewal is to deepen our relationship with God because we know He’s designed us for fellowship with Him.  As you begin your RPI time this week, spend a few minutes telling your Father that you love Him.  Tell Him you want to see that love grow through your time in His presence.  Be still for a few moments in His presence just loving Him.

Week 23: James tells us to “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord . . . .”  Just choosing to pray for revival and renewal implies the need for humility.  We agree with God that we have needs that we cannot meet on our own.  We agree that we aren’t all-sufficient.  As we enter into our RPI time this week, let’s position ourselves humbly before His throne.  Let’s tell Him that we are needy and that we know He is the only one who can meet our need.

Week 24: In his prayer of confession and repentance, Ezra lets the people of Israel know that God gave them a “measure of revival” after they had gone through captivity in Babylon. (Ezra 9:8) It’s important that all of who pray for revival know that it only comes from God.  Let’s take some time before we pray this week for revival to let God know we’re dependent upon Him and that we trust Him to bring renewal.

Week 25: Thomas Kelly wrote a wonderful little book he called “A Testament of Devotion.”  He says this in the book, “Totalitarian are the claims of Christ.  No vestige of reservation of “our rights” can remain.”  If we pursue revival honestly, we have to yield every part of our lives to Jesus.  We have to give up “our rights.”  May God’s Spirit use these words to guide our thinking as we pray this week.

Week 26: Paul said in our text for this morning that He wanted to know Christ and the power of His resurrection.  One writer says that Paul is actually saying that he wants to experience the power Jesus possesses in light of His resurrection.  As we enter into prayer for revival this week, we may want to think first about how much we really want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection.

Week 27: Before you pray this week, read Isaiah 55:8&9.  One of the things that happens in the revival process is that God’s thoughts become more important than our thoughts.  We yield to His way of thinking.  We may need to ask God again this week to transform our minds and help us think like He thinks.  Choosing to think His thoughts may well hasten revival.

Week 28: Before you pray this week, read Isaiah 55:8&9.  One of the things that happens in the revival process is that God’s thoughts become more important than our thoughts.  We yield to His way of thinking.  We may need to ask God again this week to transform our minds and help us think like He thinks.  Choosing to think His thoughts may well hasten revival.

Week 29: Read Proverbs 8:17 before you begin your prayer time this week.  God personifies Himself as wisdom in the eighth chapter of Proverbs.  He tells us that those who diligently seek Him will find Him.  Let’s consider our “diligence quotient” before we pray.  How intensely do we seek God and His revival of our souls?  The answer to that question may guide our praying this week.

Week 30: Do you remember the great commandment?  Read Matthew 22:37&38 before your prayer time this week.  Loving God is all-consuming, and the level of our love for Him will increase or decrease our hunger for renewal/revival.  How much do we really love God?  Listen for God’s answer as you begin to pray.
