Revival Prayer Pointers

31 through 40

Week 31: Why do we pray for revival?  What do we expect to get?  If we want anything other than a deeper relationship with God, we’re expecting the wrong thing.  Let’s focus our thinking on the words of the psalmist in Ps. 63:1 before we pray this week.  God’s Spirit may want to show us a need for greater thirst in our desire for Him.

Week 32: Several themes are consistent with the pursuit of revival.  One of those themes shows up often in the Psalms: the acknowledgment of our sin.  Let’s allow Ps. 32:5 guide our thinking and praying as we participate in the Revival Prayer Initiative this week.  Perhaps we should ask God’s Spirit to reveal any sins we’ve not acknowledged and confessed prior to praying.

Week 33: Meditate on Jeremiah 10:23 before you pray this week.  Let’s think about our limits in sorting out the way in which we discover our steps through life.  To know genuine revival, we must realize our boundaries.  We don’t know everything, and we can’t do everything.  We might want to start our praying this week by saying “Lord, it is not in me to direct my own steps.  Lead me in the way that will bring me to revival and renewal.”

Week 34:

Week 35: Let’s think about Romans 12:1&2 before we pray this week.  Consider three questions that come out of these verses: 1) Have I presented my life as a living sacrifice to God? 2) Are there any ways in which my life is negatively conformed to the world? 3) Am I allowing God to transform my life as He chooses.  Take time to listen for answers from God’s Spirit and pray accordingly.

Week 39: Someone asked me last week what words come to mind when I think of being in the yoke with Jesus.  After some thought, three words came to mind: companionship, submission and obedience.  Perhaps those three words also define the path to revival/renewal: spending time with Jesus, yielding to His plan for our lives, and obeying Him in everything.  Let’s give those three words some thought before we begin praying this week.

Week 40: The Church is Jesus’ bride, and He wants a bride that is spotless, pure and clean.  Part of the reason we pray for revival/renewal is our desire to be that beautiful and pure bride when Jesus comes.  As we pray this week, let’s allow God’s Spirit to encourage us about being Jesus’ bride and what that means for our lives.
