Revival Prayer Pointers

41 through 50

Week 41: King David writes in Psalm 138: 7 “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me.”  His assurance of God’s reviving power in his life encourages us hundreds of years later, and we can expect His reviving power in our lives.  Before you pray for revival this week, thank God for this assurance we have through His Word.

Week 42: In Psalm 143:11 the psalmist prays “Revive me, O Lord, for Your name’s sake!”  That one little line may help us understand the real purpose behind revival.  Revival comes to us by God’s hand for God’s glory.  Reflect on this one line from the Psalms and make sure your desire for revival share’s the same motive as the psalmist.

Week 43:

Week 44: Let’s read James 1: 13-16 before we pray for revival this week.  Let’s focus on the reading: 1) “Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober . . . .” and 2) “Be holy, for I am holy.”  Revival requires serious thinking and serious living.  May God’s Spirit show us the need for “sober” living and “holy” living as we pray this week.

Week 45: Charles Finney says in his book “Experiencing Revival” that “One individual who obtains the spirit of prayer will often arouse a whole church.”  Perhaps it would do each of us well to ask a simple question as we begin to pray for revival: “If revival in my church depended on my commitment to prayer, should I expect revival to come?”  As we respond humbly to God’s Spirit, perhaps He’ll give us that spirit of prayer.

Week 49: We’re almost through a year of praying for revival.  Take some time before praying this week to reflect on what you’ve learned and how God has working in your life through the Revival Prayer Initiative.  Thank Him for what you’ve learned or experienced, and ask Him to show you where He needs freedom to work in your life.
