Revival Prayer Pointers

61 through 70

Week 61: Much of life is about good and evil.  Revival in Christian’s lives is about good prevailing and evil losing its battle for our souls.  Let’s think about Romans 16:19 before we pray for revival this week.  The Apostle lets us know that we should be people who are wise in what is good and simple concerning evil.  May God’s Spirit have freedom to show us where we should be wiser and where we should be more simple.

Week 62: Many things can hinder revival in a person or a church.  Some things are overtly sinful and should not be part of any believer’s life.  Other things aren’t specifically sinful; they just clutter up our lives and obscure what is genuinely important.  Jesus tells us to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.”  Before we pray this week, let’s allow God to show us if there is “clutter” in our lives that hinders true renewal and revival.

Week 63: Our Lord tells us in John 10 that He came that we might have life to the full.  That life He offers us fills us with the joy that only He can give.  As we pursue renewal and revival in our lives and our church, perhaps we should ask a simple question.  “Can we possibly know the joy He plans for us if we’re not experiencing renewal and revival?”  Let’s think about that before we pray this week for God’s work in our midst.

Week 64: We conclude another year of Sundays today.  For more than a year of Sundays, we’ve prayed for revival in our church and in our lives.  The reminder comes to us from Scripture that revival never comes with out humility.  Meditate on Psalm 119:25 before revival prayer this week.  Are we as desperate for revival as the psalmist?  May God give us a sense of desperation for His work in us!

Week 65: When Jesus told His disciples that one of them would betray Him, the disciples began asking Him “Is it I?” (Mt. 14:19) Perhaps that question is appropriate for all of us as we anticipate revival in our church.  Might any one of us be the person with a heart attitude that hinders revival?  Perhaps we should pray “Lord, is it I?” when we stop this week to pray for revival.

Week 66: The flip side to the “Is it I?” question is this.  “What am I doing to help revival come?”  As much as we can hinder revival, we can also create an environment that allows God’s spirit to work.  The key is allowing yielding all of our lives to His control.  Read and meditate on Romans 12:1&2 before praying for renewal this week.

Week 67: The primary hindrance to revival is sin.  That sin may be different for one person than for another, but ultimately sin closes the door on God renewing and reviving work in our lives and church.  Confession and repentance offer our only hope of defeating the sin issue.  Let’s go back to a simple verse of Scripture, 1 John 1:9, before we pray this week.  Each of us can ask one simple question after reading it: “Lord, is there anything I need to confess today that is holding back personal revival in my life?”`

Week 68: God’s people are often too self-sufficient to experience revival.  We too often think we can do everything on our own.  Before we pray for revival this week, let’s think about 2 Corinthians 3:5.  The Apostle teaches us that we’re not sufficient.  Rather, our sufficiency is from God.  If we’re too self-sufficient, let’s give God’s Spirit time to show us that before we pray.
