71 through 80
Week 71: The enemy of our souls, Satan, does not want to see FBC experience revival and renewal. He’ll do everything in his power to keep it from happening. Let’s focus our prayer time this week on seeking God’s protection of our church and its members. Pray that God will hinder Satan’s efforts and make us aware of his tricks and deceptions.
Week 72: Think about Psalm 119:30-32 prior to praying for revival this week. The last half of vs. 30 finds the psalmist saying “Your judgments I have laid before me.” He tells us that his focus is in God’s Word and the instructions we find there. A fresh focus on God’s Word will aid our pursuit of revival since it helps us see ourselves and our world as we and it really are.
Week 73: Declaring our need for revival causes us to admit that something is wrong. Somehow we have wandered from the highway of holiness, and we need help to find our way back. Consider God’s promise in Psalm 50:15 before you pray for revival this week. Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify my name. Let’s call upon the one who wants to deliver us and renew us!
Week 74: A. W. Tozer, in his book The Pursuit of God, says “The stiff and wooden quality of our religious lives is a result of our lack of holy desire. Complacency is a deadly foe of all spiritual growth.” Before we pray for revival/renewal this week, let’s consider the words of the Psalmist: I hold on to you for dear life, and you hold me steady as a post.(Psalm 63:8 in The Message) Do we pursue God as though our lives depend upon it?
Week 75: “Blessed are the poor is spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 5:3) It may be possible that many of don’t know how desperately we need revival because we don’t know how poor we are. We’ll never be hungry for God’s work in our lives if we haven’t experienced the great need of His work in our souls. Meditate on this beatitude before praying for revival this week. May God help us know our need!
Week 76: The spirit of revival is, in large part, about power. We need power to live as God’s people. We need power to resist evil. We need power to boldly speak God’s Word. Jesus’ death and resurrection provides that power; it’s available to us when we yield our lives to Him. Consider Philippians 3:10 as you prepare to pray for revival this week. The power of His resurrection will renovate our hearts and transform our lives!
Week 77: David was a man who understood urgency. Read Psalm 37:21&22 before you pray for revival this week. David had gone through a time of chastening, and cried with urgency, asking God not to forsake him and to help him. Is it possible that we’ve not yet grasped the urgency of our need? May we know as David did how desperately we need God’s presence and help!
Week 78: Divided hearts hinder true revival. Think about Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:24 about serving “God and mammon.” Perhaps we need to ask God’s Spirit to show us if we’re trying to live for two masters instead of one. The ultimate truth of Scripture is that only God deserves our undivided loyalty. When He has that from each of us, we’ll know revival and renewal. Let’s pray for an undivided heart this week.
Week 79: We’re going to think about our roots in the Story of God this week in church. Our connection to the people of God throughout their history reminds us that God’s people throughout history have longed for revival. They knew when they grew cold in their walk with God and prayed for renewal. In more ways than we might realize, we are like our spiritual kin. Let’s tell God this week that we need the same kind of renewing work that our spiritual forefathers asked for.
Week 80:
